Corporation with Hydraform, South Africa

After careful consideration of all aspects involved both Hydraform and Quintessence MC has agreed to work together in the positioning of the Hydraform technic in development countries. Both organizations share the same vision of improving the quality of building structures of all kind using the proven building technology of Hydraform and at the same time give a great impulse to local communities by creating many local jobs. An extra boost for Quintessence in this collaboration is the positive impact on the environment by using this technic instead of traditional brick making. So we are very pleased to announce the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Hydraform and Quintessence MC as per January 2, 2017. The MoU was signed by Mr. Robert Plattner, Director of Hydraform and Mr. Henk F. Koppelaar, CEO of Quintessence. The project in Uganda - see the next topic - is the first result of this initiative; It will be fully realized using the Hydraform technic and the production of approx. 220.000 blocks has already started.
Great new project started in Uganda
Recently we started with a great new project in the North of Uganda. The realization of a Secondary school for Girls in a relatively remote area. Because of this, it is a boarding school; meaning on top of the necessary school buildings also dormitories; an admin building, teacher's homes etc. need to be built. According to the actual planning the project will be handed over at the end of this year. The school wil start at the beginning of the new school year of 2018. Quintessence has become officially climate neutral

Since June 2011 Quintessence has become officially Climate Neutral. Together with the Fair Climate Fund we made a CO2 emission scan. The total emission has been calculated and compensated by the purchase of verified Carbon Credits of a Biogas facility in India. A part of the CO2 emission comes from the energy consumption in the office, but a bigger part is the result of business trips by car, airplane or other types of transport. Beside the business emission, the private emission has been calculated and compensated as well.
Henk Koppelaar: “We do believe in sustainable management and environmental protection wherever possible. Therefore we are proud that all activities of Quintessence from now on will have no further impact on the climate.”

WNF first organization with 4 stars in the Charity Checklist ©
The World Wildlife Fund in The Netherlands - WNF is the first organization in Holland reaching the rank of 4 stars in the Charity Checklist. The content and layout of the Annual report, the openness about (financial) results and failures and the way WNF used all kind of other communication platforms to spread there message, are a sample for many other charities in this sector. In order to objectively provide a qualitative ranking system for charity organizations, Quintessence has developed a Charity Checklist ©. Our research methodology is based on a carefully compiled series of questions, with over 200 criteria used to evaluate a charity organization. For each criterion, the organization is awarded a certain number of points. The total number of points awarded in those criteria (maximum of 600) determines the allocation of stars (*). A max. number of 5 stars can be awarded.
